Welcome!
Close the gap!
Imagine a world without a gender gap. Imagine a world where gender equality is a reality for every woman and girl. Imagine a world where every woman and girl can receive an education live free from violence, hold the power to make her own decisions that are in her best interest and receive equal pay for the same work.
Gender equality is the idea that men and women receive equal rights and treatment, and are not discriminated against based on gender. This should be the reality for all women across the globe. Gender equality is necessary to allow our world to prosper. Gender equality is the substrate to permit a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
Women and girls are subjected to discrimination and violence in every part of the world. Violence against women is a collective term of abusive acts that are targeted towards women. According to the UN Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women, “Violence against women is the manifestation of historically unequal power relations between men and women. Violence against women is one of the crucial social mechanisms by which women are forced into a subordinate position compared with men.”
This is a humanitarian issue that is detrimental to the human race. Its impacts range from long-term multiple physical, sexual and mental consequences for women and girls, including death. It obscures women from participating in society as it hinders their well-being and involves ramifications to not only the women but their families, communities and the larger population as a whole.
The concept of 'Purple World' began when a few students who are much too passionate for their own well being decided that they must take initiative and spread the word!
If now us, then whom? We must be the change in the world! As grand as that sounds, our first goal is small scaled; we plan to raise awareness of the misconceptions surrounding the social ideology of feminism within our school. We plan to slowly spread our positive influence across the world!
We are tremendously privileged, the U.A.E's leaders have worked diligently to lifted gender boundaries. Our founding father, may his soul rest in peace, said "Islam affords women their rightful status, and encourages them to work in all sectors, as long as they are afforded appropriate respect.". And it does not end there, his sons have continued his legacy and due to their great leadership Emirati women have spread across a plethora of government sectors in which they have contributed the country's development.
However, there is a surplus of less economically developed countries that violate an excessive number of human rights due to the violence against women taking place within their borders. We must raise our voices and speak for our mute sisters all over the world.
Through this website, we will share information related to world events related to women's rights. We will also share the events we carry out in our community to raise awareness about gender inequality issues.
See you soon!
